This annual three-day event highlights military aviation and features some of the most famous trainer, transport, fighter and bomber aircraft that flew in combat around the world.
In addition to the daily three hour aerial performance, this event features military and civilian aircraft static displays, military re-enactors and firepower demonstrations, flight simulators, and airplane and helicopter rides.
Ground events include car displays, a kid’s carnival, gift shop and autograph tent, food and souvenir vendors, and pyrotechnics.
We will include an evening show in this year’s TICO Airshow. Friday March 11. We’ll fly in the afternoon, stand down for dinner, and then fly at dusk with the Aeroshell T-6 Demonstration Team, Matt Younkin and his illuminated Beech 18, and Randy Ball with his afterburner-equipped Russian MiG-17. After that spectacular show we’ll have live music, and close out the evening with fireworks. Saturday and Sunday we’ll fly our daytime show, with gates opening at 8:30 and first flights occurring about 12:30.

The North American AeroShell Aerobatic Team will rumble through skies over Melbourne International Airport in their first performance at the 2016 Melbourne Air & Space Show. Team AeroShell is based in Birmingham, Alabama and is the only civilian flying team that flies the powerful T-6 Texan in close-formation aerobatics. Led by team leader Mark Henley, Team AeroShell will perform a variety of precision aerobatic maneuvers including the bomb burst, avalanche and breath-taking “Switch Blade”.
Hundreds of WWII pilots were trained in the Texan, and while not used by the United States military today, over 22 countries still train pilots on versions of this aircraft. In U.S. military history this aircraft has been recognized by many names; the T-6 Texan (Army Aircorp) and the Harvard (RAF), but was most affectionately known as the “pilot maker” by crew members.
The AeroShell Aerobatic Team will be the headline performer at Friday Night Flight, the Melbourne Air & Space Shows first ever night air show. For the latest information on the practice and performance times of Team AeroShell please follow our Facebook Page!
