AvTrend is
the new ACES Systems' software for displaying, printing, and archiving spectral data from
ACES Systems' analyzers. It was
designed specifically for the Model 2000 Series ProBalancers and the VIPER 4040
analyzer but can also be a replacement for the older DOS version of ACES Systems' software
called Intelli-Trend.
AvTrend
will import and display the data currently stored in Intelli-Trend databases as well as
accept downloads directly from the 1700 Series analyzers.
This Tip
of the Month is intended to give you a short "How To" on the dumping of spectral
data from the 1700 series analyzers to AvTrend. Follow these simple steps to complete the
data dump.
- Use ONLY a
null model cable or lap link cable for connecting the analyzer to the com (serial
communications) port of your computer. You may require a gender changer depending on your
analyzer model and computer configuration but no other adapters should be used.
- Start
AvTrend and left mouse click on OPTIONS | COMMUNICATIONS | 1700.
- When the
1700 Serial Port Setting dialog box appears, select the PORT and SPEED settings as
required, then click on OK. Be sure the com port you select here is the one you have
connected the null modem or Laplink cable to on your computer.
- Turn the
1700 series analyzer ON. When the OPERATION OPTIONS menu is displayed, press the SPCL
MODES key. From the SPECIAL MODES MENU select "4Communicate" and press
ENTER. From the COMMUNICATIONS menu, select "1Configure Serial Interface"
and press ENTER. When the communications parameters are displayed, match the "Baud
" field with the "Speed" field you defined earlier in step three on your
computer. The remaining fields should be: none, 8 data, 1 stop, 20, 1 and 1 in that order
from top to bottom following the Baud setting.
- Press
ENTER. When the COMMUNICATIONS screen is displayed again, select "5Store Data
into Remote" and press ENTER.
- Immediately
go back to the computer and left mouse click on FILE | TRANSFER | RETRIEVE 17XX DATA.
- The
communications sequence will begin and continue until all data is transferred to the PC. A
message will be displayed indicating when the transfer is complete.
- If you
encounter an error message indicating no communications between the analyzer and the PC,
recheck and verify the type cable you are using, the com port you are connected to and the
com port selected in AvTrend. You should also verify the Baud rate (speed settings) in
both the analyzer and the PC.
- When
all else fails and you are still unable to communicate, call ACES Systems Product Support
or contact us via email at support@acessystems.com.
