Since the introduction of the hottest little analyzer of its kind, the Model 2020 ProBalancer Analyzer, we have also experienced some of the hottest weather on record around the world. When used in these extremely hot environments, the Model 2020 displayed screen contrast adjustment limitations. When the Model 2020 was field tested initially, the season was early spring and the contrast adjustments (Main menu screen keystrokes [F1] for -contrast and [F2] for +contrast) had a wide enough range to cover the conditions of background and surrounding light under normal spring temperatures. Later in the summer, as the liquid crystal medium of the screen heated up as temperatures rose, the display screen started to darken. Using the maximum screen contrast adjustment was not enough to lighten the screen to our satisfaction under extreme heat conditions.

In response, ACES Systems changed the software code and widened the adjustment range of the contrast setting to its full capacity. This enabled the user to successfully adjust the contrast for both cold and hot conditions and have a clear display in either case. The analyzer was baked in a 200-degree Fahrenheit oven for an hour and the contrast worked well, even under those extreme conditions. If you have a version of software less than 2.0 installed in your Model 2020 analyzer, you still have the problem. But, upgrading your Model 2020 to solve this problem is very simple, and also very free. If you need the upgrade software, or assistance with it, call customer support at ACES Systems.

Another situation you might run into on those bright hot summer days will also make the screen appear to be dark and unreadable. The analyzer screen is polarized to cut down on glare. If you happened to be wearing polarized sunglasses, you won’t be able to see the screen clearly unless you turn the analyzer 90 degrees from the normal viewing angle. The obvious answer is to remove the polarized sunglasses or wear non-polarized glasses. As long as you’re still holding the bright yellow Model 2020, you’ll still look cool!
