Some engines require that you perform a vibration survey or analysis from two locations which most often means the compressor section and the turbine section. Turbine sections will usually require a high temperature sensor which is higher in price as well as temperature tolerance. If vibration equipment will only accept one sensor type or sensitivity setting, it’s impossible to collect data simultaneously from both engine sections unless you use the more expensive high temp sensor for both.

The VIPER 4040 solves that problem by making it more economical and faster to collect this type of vibration survey data. The VIPER has four fully independent and simultaneous channels of vibration data input as well as four independent speed inputs. What this means is that you can use any sensor you wish on each of the four channels and still collect simultaneous data. For instance, if you require a high temp sensor for the turbine section, an accelerometer with a charge converter, and an accelerometer for the compressor you will often have a charge converter output of 20 to 100 mV/IPS (a velocity signal) while the accelerometer on the compressor is 50 to 100 mV/g (an acceleration signal). Each of the channels can be configured to collect the required data in a single run and without the necessity of buying expensive sensors when a less expensive sensor will do the job. You can even do a dual engine run using two channels per each engine and collect all four channels simultaneously.
