Model 1700 Analyzer Plus
  Amplitude Levels After Calibration

If you just recently had your Model 1700 Analyzer Plus calibrated or repaired and are now experiencing trouble with the indicated amplitude levels, this might be the fix for you. When the unit is calibrated, and with some repairs, all the "guts" are taken out of the analyzer. Every knob, button, and switch is checked. In the process of doing these checks, the Velocity / Accelerometer input select switch, pictured below, is checked in each position.

It just so happens that the last position it is checked in is the "Accelerometer" position. It is then left in that position, as shown in the photograph. When you receive your analyzer back from us, you may then hook up a velocity sensor and cable, do a vibe survey on your engine, and notice that something is very wrong. The amplitudes of the signal are all wrong from what you normally see. This may be caused by what’s called "double integration" or mathematically changing the acceleration signal to a velocity signal then applying the same change to the answer. If this explanation doesn’t make sense, don’t worry. All you need to do is insure the slot in the selector switch is lined up with the black line leading to the input port you have your cable connected to. Simple as that.
