In the summer of 2000, I
encountered a tail rotor balance job after a repaint on a Robinson R22. Our old balancer
was running us all over the chart. After seven runs I decided to call the company [ACES
Systems] which I had seen at the February 2000 HAI Convention [HeliExpo]. The following
day I had a complete Model 2020 ProBalancer at my door, shipped to me as a loaner
demonstration unit. I went right to work with the equipment and two cycles later the tail
rotor was balanced to .05 IPS. I was immediately sold on the unit, but since I was given
ten days to test it out, I put it to work balancing every aircraft in the hanger to the
same astonishing standards. On day ten I shipped the unit back and purchased a new unit
for the maintenance facility.
I have
found the ACES Systems Model 2020 ProBalancer to be a very reliable piece of equipment. It
has an easy installation, it's easy to use and understand, not to mention that it's been a
real time saver. It is not uncommon to have the Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters balanced
to .02 IPS. That is quite impressive!
