Maintenance Fact:
Comparing the ACES Systems' Model 2020 to other balancing equipment
used in the past for A109 aircraft. The
following values are easily obtained in a very minimal amount of
time.
-Main
rotor lateral balance through all phases <.08.
-Main rotor vertical balance <.1
ips through all phases, with an occasional.3 ips
at vmax.
-Main rotor 4/rev balance
consistently <.45 ips. Tail rotor balance easily
obtainable to <.08 ips on initial balancing.
Making the 75 hr. balance checks just that (a
check).
Maintenance, parts & operational records show that for the time period
using the 2020:
- increased aircraft availability
- fewer maintenance flights
- tail rotor pitch link life almost doubled
- main rotor pitch link rod end life increased
>50%.
- fewer airframe vibration related
discrepancies
